How does Sweden's social insurance agency work

HYBRID EVENT: Social Insurance in Sweden is unlike many other countries in the world as it covers basically everyone who works and lives in Sweden. The insurance is an essential part of the public welfare system that protects the needs of the individual, family and companies.

The purpose of the Sweden's Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan) is to provide financial security at the various stages of life. However, it can be difficult to understand how it works and which benefits you and your family are entitled to if you are new to the country.

We have invited Henrik Malmquist, a representative from Försäkringskassan, to go through the basics and answer your questions. Some of the questions that will be addressed include:

  • Do I need to register at Försäkringskassan?
  • What happens if I’m sick and can’t work for a couple of weeks?
  • Am I insured if I travel to another country?
  • What benefits can my family receive?

Join this event and you will get a better understanding of the Social Insurance in Sweden and how the agency protects the needs of the individual, family and companies.
