“Since moving to Sweden four years ago, it has been a continuous journey of learning and growth. I am constantly inspired by the trust-based society that is prevalent in the Nordic countries and the love of my husband. Sweden and Denmark have become our second home.”

When my partner accepted a PhD position at Lund University, I eagerly followed him to Sweden, where I decided to begin my own professional career as well. Adapting to life in Sweden was made easier by the guidance of kind friends that we have met along the way in the country, who shared their experiences and advice on how to advance on my career. I enrolled in an intensive Swedish language course to build my network and improve my language skills, while volunteering with local organizations and participating in the International Citizen Hub Lund, a program designed to support the partners of those who have relocated to Sweden.

Through the International Citizen Hub Lund program, I gained valuable insights into the labor markets of both Sweden and Denmark. As an economist motivated to find employment in Sweden, I applied for a Clinical Trial Assistant position at Hansa Biopharma, a medium-sized pharma company in Lund, where I was given the opportunity to work alongside incredible mentors and colleagues. During my time at this company, I discovered a deep passion for the pharmaceutical industry. I was eager to continue my professional development and further my career within this field.

Across the Oresund Bridge from Malmö, I discovered the large pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk. My managers and mentors had mentioned the potential for professional growth within the company, and my curiosity was piqued. I applied for the Global Clinical Trial Administrator position, leveraging my experience and network in Sweden. These factors were instrumental in securing the position at Novo Nordisk.

Since moving to Sweden four years ago, it has been a continuous journey of learning and growth. I am constantly inspired by the trust-based society that is prevalent in the Nordic countries and the love of my husband. Sweden and Denmark have become our second home.
