"I do not change myself any single day just to fit in my working environment. Instead, being myself and expressing my perspectives. I believe this is also what Sweden is aiming for: any individual has the rights to freedom and speak for themselves. Do not change just because of a new country or new environment, you have to be yourself. You can always improve yourself, but just do not change who you are. That is when you will perfectly fit here in Swedish society."
“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get” – Forest Gump. That is how I start my journey in Sweden.
Before moving to Sweden, I was living in Belgium and visited Malmo in my first trip in Europe. I took a pic in Malmo Harbour next to the central station and said goodbye to this beautiful city for my first time as well as only time to be here. BANG! 3 years later, here I am. Settling down in Malmo, Sweden.
I moved to Sweden as family reunion and my visa is allowed to work here. But, at first, I could not find a job in Skane region and then decided to try my luck in Stockholm city and found an internship there. Living away from my family in a strange country was not easy, so I kept travelling back & forward between the two cities. This made me become very sad and tired. Thus, I decided to come back Malmo to be together with my family and had no ideas about what was next.
I do not know what will come in life and so the only thing I can do is to prepare myself. When things happen, I know that I try my best and will not regret anything. That is why I can STAY POSITIVE. With such attitude in my mind, I did survive my job seeking journey here. I applied for many companies in any industry that I can. Offer rejection became a part of this journey, but it was when I learnt and grew myself.
Finally, I ended up a job here in Malmo. I do not change myself any single day just to fit in my working environment. Instead, being myself and expressing my perspectives. I believe this is also what Sweden is aiming for: any individual has the rights to freedom and speak for themselves. Do not change just because of a new country or new environment, you have to be yourself. You can always improve yourself, but just do not change who you are. That is when you will perfectly fit here in Swedish society.
