"Upon arrival we had the normal challenges of opening bank accounts and applying for the all so important Personnummer! That is how I came to the International Citizen Hub Lund because I needed help and the assistance that I received was absolutely fantastic."

It took 4 months from after my husband signed the contract with EPN and I was on the plane to move to Sweden.

How did it all begin? Growing up in Germany I always had a keen interest in travelling and exploring the world. Through friends in England I met my husband and ended up visiting South Africa for the first time. I was double in love, with a man and a country which led to spending more than 20 years in South Africa.

Like always life happens, children happen, you grow as a person and it was time to start a new phase in our lives. After a year of negotiating my husband signed the contract for his current position, we packed up our belongings and moved to Sweden in April 2017.

Upon arrival we had the normal challenges of opening bank accounts and applying for the all so important Personnummer! That is how I came to the International Citizen Hub Lund because I needed help and the assistance that I received was absolutely fantastic.

At the drop-ins I got the help I needed to understand the application forms, the process (with an EU and a non-EU passport things where complicated and subsequently we discovered a loop hole in the system, which hopefully has been addressed by now). After 5 months I finally received my Personnummer and could eventually open my practice Holistic Hypnosis, focusing on Physical and Mental well-being through Hypnotherapy and Nutritional Care.

The support from the Hub continued with the very valuable Kick-Start program which offers the tools to understand how business works in Sweden and opened further doors to get to know people, make friends and learn about Swedish culture.

By now I am continually helping people to stay focused and balanced. I am very happy to be involved at the International Citizen Hub Lund – my advice to you is: Go out and live your life, the world is a wonderful place and there is always someone available to walk with you when you need assistance until you can do it on your own again.
